Welcome to my Uganda blog

Hello from Gulu, Uganda.

I thought I'd begin with a brief synopsis of what I'll be covering here on this, my first blog.
Hopefully I don't bore you to death with my experiences, but if I do at any time, simply click that little red 'X' on the top right of your screen--or the red circle for the mac users :)

Anyways, I'll try to write on here at least a few times a week with my thoughts and experiences, and I'll share the odd memorable photo as well. Uganda is a place that taps into your soul; it gets right under your skin and demands that you have presence and a hell of a LOT of patience. From this (or the lack thereof) I hope to string together some logical thoughts over the next few months, which I hope are of some enjoyment to you all, if not a source of therapy for myself...god knows one needs it in Africa when you're alone.

If I rant at times, don't be surprised. There's a lot of things that push the limits of even the most patient of westerner's resolve. But, when I share the positive (because there's lots of that here too) enjoy it, and try to take in a new perspective of this part of the world.

I'll be posting my first real 'blog' a bit later tonight, I just need to go and grab some dinner and perhaps a $1 beer...or two.

Ciao for now

  6. I was absolutely enthralled to read about your "shart" problems - although it sounds just like my Michael! Received your postcard today and noticed it cost 1,200 shillings to mail - in the old days before British money was changed to metric - that was 60 POUNDS - or in the venacular of today - asround $120.00. I hope you are getting good exchange on your money Michael - ha ha
